Custom reproduction railroad cars and accessories
The Roundhouse Workshop LLC custom builds reproduction 3 foot narrow gauge railroad cars in an 1880's style. We will custom design and build these heirloom structures for your specific personal or professional needs. Due to their size, which is smaller in scale than standard railroad equipment, we construct these railroad cars on custom made trailers that you can then tow with your truck down the road like you would an RV. Take it to your camp, backyard, agricultural fair, bazaar, crafts fair, train show, wherever you fancy. These heirloom builds can be used for your business to sell your wares out of at your trade shows, your home office away from home, an in-law apartment in your backyard, or to compliment or start of your Airbnb rentals.
These are not made like any other "tiny house" out there! These are built like they were in 1880's. THEY ARE TIMBER FRAME BUILT. Each is constructed like a real railroad car of the time. Designed to last and be robust. We are reconstructing Americas first tiny house of wheels; Cabooses and camp cars (repurposed boxcars).

Each car is BRAND NEW, even though they look vintage.
Hemlock Timber Frame Construction with mortise and tenon joinery
5/8" steel rods accompany each post of the frame running from top plate through trailer frame holding entire frame in compression.
Cypress exterior individual 1x4" t&g boards with SS nails
Interior cypress beadboard
3" of sheep wool insulation
tempered glass in all windows, and laminated glass in doors
Queen size bed in cupola on caboose models
Single floor living on our Classic American Boxcar models
Can be made self contained like an RV
vintage 1880's caboose and railroad stove converted to propane for heat
Full bathrooms and kitchens available
Authentic caboose railroad details and hardware throughout including oil lamps
Offer authentic "Loading Docks" essentially a deck to accompany your railroad car. This offers additional square footage of usable space for you to relax out on or for your business.
Builds range in size from 16-30 feet. Cabooses and boxcar weigh in between 9,000-14,000lbs depending on layout.
